Bakes OpenType features and variable-font axes permanently into a font file, so they render everywhere — including design tools, email clients, and older software that ignores CSS font-feature-settings. Instead of hoping the renderer honours your feature settings, you get a new font file where small caps, tabular numbers, slashed zeroes, or a pinned weight are simply the default.
